Official Performance Portland notes

Why Is This Important?

Working to ensure Portlanders are prepared for employment and being able to connect them to employment opportunities is vital for a more prepared workforce. Development and training programs, particularly for and with low-income Portlanders and those who are experiencing unemployment, will ultimately help them to better connect and compete in the regional economy.

What Do The Numbers Show?

This metric highlights the total number of adult and youth participants in workforce development and training programs funded by the City. Examples of programs include work and college readiness training, work experience placement and support, job readiness courses, vocational training, etc. Decreased funding over the years has negatively impacted the number of workers served.

How Did We Arrive at These Numbers?

Data is collected and reported by Worksystems, Inc . from each of its subrecipient workforce organizations. Career coaches from the partner organizations, who provided the employment services, follow up with individual participants for about a year and report back to Worksystems, Inc. on the results.
