Why Is This Important?
Robust partnerships allow us to more effectively serve our populations in need and provide opportunities for enhancing the quality of life in our community. Portland's Children Levy grants fund early childhood, child abuse prevention/intervention, afterschool, mentoring, and hunger relief programming, as well as supportive services for children and youth in foster care. Program activities include parent education, childcare, family mental health support, tutoring and afterschool enrichment, college/career preparation, school and community based food pantries, and gardening/nutrition education. Arts and Culture grants provide essential resources to local arts organizations and artists. Funding supports a wide range of activities and creative outputs — from theater and art classes to dance performances and free community events and concerts.
