The 2026 election · Governor of Oregon
The money behind
the race for governor.
Christine Drazan and Tina Kotek have raised $26.3 million between them since January 2025, and their campaigns are funded in very different ways. These are the public records of who gave, when the money arrived and what it paid for.
How much each candidate has raised, and when
Each line is one campaign’s running total. It steps up on the day money arrives and stops at the campaign’s latest contribution in the records. Numbered markers are the dated events listed under the chart. The chart starts in July 2025. The $368,585 raised before then, 1% of the total, is already in each line where it begins.

How much each candidate has spent, and when
Each line is one campaign’s running total of payments. It steps up on the day a payment is made and stops at the campaign’s latest payment in the records. A line that stops early has no later payments on file, either because none were made or because they have not reached these records. The chart starts in July 2025. The $463,551 paid out before then, 3% of the total, is already in each line where it begins.

How much has moved, and where the payments went
Each bar is all of one group’s payments, split by the address of whoever was paid.
Largest payees outside Oregon: Strategic Media Services, Inc. (VA), $5,774,431; Majority Strategies, LLC (TX), $1,785,797; Orion Digital Media LLC (LA), $464,147; Public Opinion Strategies (VA), $372,495.

The address is the payee’s. A media firm in another state may spend what it is paid on Oregon stations, and filings do not show that second step. Records run through October 4, 2026, and late filings can be missing.
Candidates are listed alphabetically. The charts above read the current records, and the chapters below use records through October 4, 2026.
01 / Who gives
Two campaigns built from different kinds of money.
Named individuals supplied 50% of Drazan’s cash and businesses another 31%. Kotek’s largest share, at least 30%, came from unions and their committees, and 23% came from two national Democratic governors’ groups.
Kotek has raised more in total, $14.3 million to Drazan’s $12 million. Drazan has raised more from individuals, $5.96 million to $3.32 million, and more from businesses giving directly, $3.71 million to $1.31 million.
Where each campaign’s money comes from
Each bar is one campaign’s cash on the same dollar scale, split by who gave it. The amounts under each bar add up to its total.
How we grouped the sources
Individuals, businesses and unions follow the contributor type on each filing. Committees and associations that gave $50,000 or more to either campaign are grouped by sponsor when the sponsor is clear from the name, from the committee’s own filings or from a cited source. Smaller committees stay under “other committees and organizations,” so the union and trade figures are minimums.
Gifts of $100 or less can be reported in combined entries with no names. They are counted in the totals and cannot be traced to people.

02 / How big
More than half of each campaign’s money came from sources that gave $100,000 or more.
Kotek received $100,000 or more from 20 sources, and together they account for 60% of her cash. Drazan received that much from 26 sources, who account for 55% of hers.
How much comes from large givers?
Each source is placed by its total giving to that campaign since January 2025. Darker green means larger givers.
A source is one reported name and address. Its total can include several contributions. Download the source totals.
Both campaigns also have thousands of smaller donors. They are a large share of the names and a small share of the dollars.

03 / When
Kotek’s biggest weeks were built on a few large checks. Drazan’s three biggest have all come since the end of August.
Kotek’s biggest week began July 27, when the Democratic Governors Association gave $1.5 million. Drazan’s biggest week began August 31, when AGC Committee for Action, a contractors’ committee, gave $700,000.
By the end of September 2025, before either had announced, Kotek’s committee had raised $668,491 since January and Drazan’s had raised $68,139. Drazan’s committee was registered for a legislative seat until she entered the race on October 27, 2025. Kotek announced on December 4, 2025.

Both won their primaries on May 19. Drazan took the Republican nomination with 41% of the vote in a contested field, and Kotek won the Democratic nomination with 84%, according to results reported by the Oregon Capital Chronicle.
04 / Where
Most of Drazan’s money has an Oregon address. Almost half of Kotek’s comes from other states.
Oregon addresses account for 94% of Drazan’s named money. For Kotek the share is 55%, and $2.87 million came from Washington, D.C., where national unions and the Democratic Governors Association have their offices.
How much came from Oregon?
Green is money from Oregon addresses and gold is money from other states, on one dollar scale. Combined small gifts carry no address.
The address is the one reported for each contributor. A national organization’s address is its office, which is often in Washington, D.C. Download every state.
Counting only individual donors narrows the gap in where the money comes from. Oregonians gave Kotek $2.28 million in 7,999 gifts, which is 69% of her money from individuals. They gave Drazan $5.73 million in 4,721 gifts, or 96%.

05 / Behind the names
Who funds the committees that fund the candidates?
A committee’s name rarely says where its money started. Its own filings often do.
Four of the eight union committees on Kotek’s list took in most of their money as gifts of $100 or less, which are reported in combined entries without names. Citizen Action for Political Education, the committee of SEIU Local 503, reported $1.54 million of its $1.8 million that way. The contractors’ committee that gave Drazan $703,500 received $1,004,436 of its $1,006,786 from one trade association chapter.

One committee on that list changed size during these records. On September 16, 2026 the North Coast States Regional Council of Carpenters gave $10 million to Building a Stronger Oregon. That committee has given Kotek $505,000 in these records, most recently on September 28. Ron Rowlett, the union’s director of government relations, told OPB the money “is to support multiple candidates and multiple measures from today moving forward.” These records cannot show how it will be spent.
Fourteen sources gave to both campaigns. Eleven of them gave more to Kotek, one gave more to Drazan and two gave the same amount to each.

06 / What it bought
Advertising is the largest expense for both campaigns.
Drazan’s committee has reported $10.2 million in payments, including $5.78 million for broadcast advertising. These records hold $5.31 million in payments by Kotek’s committee, including $2.32 million for broadcast, and none dated after August 26, 2026.
Kotek’s later payments exist. OPB reported on October 1, 2026 that her cash on hand had fallen to $4.4 million, well below the state’s September 27 figure. Her committee reports payments about 30 days after making them, and our latest download covered only transactions dated September 28 or later, so a month of her spending has not reached these records.

A payment to a media buyer usually passes through to stations and platforms, and the filing does not show that second step. Download all payees or browse Drazan’s payments and Kotek’s payments.
A payment is dated when the campaign pays it. An advertising payment can cover airtime that runs weeks later, so the dates here show when money left the account and say less about when voters saw the ads.
07 / Money left
How much each campaign has left depends on which day you ask.
On August 26, 2026, the last day these records have payments for both campaigns, Kotek had about $6.46 million in cash and Drazan about $1.5 million.
Raised, paid out and left on the same date
All bars share one dollar scale. Cash left starts from each committee’s official opening balance for 2026 and adds the money in and out through August 26.
After August 26, the committee raised $4,495,338 more through October 2. It paid out $4,045,180 more through October 1.
After August 26, the committee raised $3,462,490 more through October 4. These records have no later payments for this committee.
Opening balances come from the official ORESTAR account summaries retrieved September 27, 2026. Cash left is our calculation from those balances and the filed transactions. Download the official summaries.
The two committees report on different schedules. Since June, Drazan’s has filed its payments a median of 1 day after making them, and Kotek’s a median of 30 days after. State law allows 30 days for most of the year and seven days in the final six weeks before an election.
That timing shaped the official balances. On September 27, 2026 the state’s summaries showed $8.38 million for Kotek and about $965,000 for Drazan, at a point when Kotek’s September spending was not yet on file. OPB reported on October 1, 2026, after more filings, that Kotek had $4.4 million on hand and Drazan roughly $1.6 million.
08 / What is missing
What these records leave out.
Brett Smith
The Pacific Green nominee has no committee in these records. A candidate who expects to raise and spend $750 or less in a year does not have to form one, so his absence here does not mean he raised nothing.
Outside spending
Groups can spend on their own to support or oppose a candidate. The state’s export does not name the target of that spending, and our review of the detail records is incomplete, with 77 of 137 flagged records read so far. One of them names a candidate in this race: a $2,500 payment by Oregon Right to Life PAC in opposition to Tina Kotek on August 26, 2026.
Earlier money
The records start on January 1, 2025. Kotek’s committee opened that year with $891,062 already in the bank and Drazan’s with $138,365, and both committees existed before this race.
Late filings
This copy joins a complete pull on September 27 with two later downloads that searched by transaction date. A record dated before September 28 and filed after that pull can be missing, which is why Kotek’s payments stop on August 26. The newest days can also still change.
Names
Donors are grouped by the exact name and address on each filing. One person reported two ways counts as two sources, so the donor counts are close estimates.
Goods and services
Support given directly as goods or services is tracked separately from cash. Kotek reported $181,515 of it and Drazan $143,913.
